News & EventsGeneral Meeting - Tuesday, January 13, 20155th Annual Fly Tying NightOur January meeting will be our 5th Annual Fly Tying Night. We are asking all our members who tie flies to grab your vise and some materials and come out and tie one on. Some of the chapter's best tiers will be on hand showing off their favorite patterns. This is a great opportunity to get some hands on instruction if your are a novice tier. Our more experienced members would be happy to work with you and provide with some one on one instruction. Also a great way to introduce some of the magic that happens during our Fly Tiers Course, which begins again later this month. It's still not too late to register ! See Ron Ruskai or Dick Turse at the meeting. We will be gearing up a little early with most of the tiers setting up for an official start of 7:30pm. Our business portion of the meeting will be very short and our tiers will be there all night. Even if your not a fly fisherman or fly tier this is a great evening out to socialize as this meeting has proven to be one of our most popular yearly events. There will even be refreshments on hand. Break that cabin fever and come on out and tie some flies with us. American Legion Hall

A Fabulous Volunteer OpportunityProject Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF)This is a program through which disabled veterans learn fly tying and fishing. It is VERY rewarding! The winter schedule of tying events with the veterans at Lyons Hospital has begun, and mets on the first Tuesday of each month at 1:00 PM in Building #57. The coming dates are February 3, March 3, and April 7 In addition, due to popular demand, Project Healing Waters is expanding to include the East Orange VA Hospital. The first fly tying event there will be Wednesday afternoon January 14, 2015. Stay tuned for additional dates. Please also mark your calendar for March 21st for the 3rd Annual March Madness Tie-A-Thon at the Cranford Community Center, Cranford, New Jersey. This fantastic event, organized by the Rahway River TU Chapter, supports Casting for Recovery and Project Healing Waters. There will be door prizes, lunch, and lots of laughter. You can sit at the Project Healing Waters table and tie your favorite flies or sit with your own TU Chapter table. All the NJ chapters are invited. If you're available to volunteer with PHWFF, so that adequate arrangements can be made with the facilities, and to be kept up to date on future dates, you must notify the Lyons VA Hospital Project Leader, Stuart Shafran in advance by e-mail at If you have any other questions you can contact CJTU's liaison to the program, Margaret "Peggy" Salisbury at .
